What You'll Be Doing

Under general supervision, will independently apply electrical and instrumentation knowledge base to generate issued for construction design packages. Makes decisions on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in project meetings to resolve important questions with key engineers. I

This position is located at the Spruance Site in Richmond, VA. Work will be performed full time at site.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design for electrical systems and components for heavy industrial facilities.

  • Responsible for preparing design and detail drawings for installation of electrical systems and equipment including motors, controls, panels, and wiring, starting and protective devices, substation and distribution circuits, and cable tray and conduit routing

  • Assist in conducting Electrical reviews of all project packages prior to IFC to ensure that quality procedures were followed

  • Required to perform necessary field work, taking measurements, as-building existing systems, developing detailed scopes.

  • Ensures that completed project scope is safe to operate, functional, maintainable, and that all applicable codes have been followed

  • Review project design estimates and scopes of work for new and proposed projects

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of applicable industry electrical design experience within the chemical and industrial industry

  • Required proficiency with CAD software platforms, preferably MicroStation

  • Experience in communicating job packages/projects with construction and plant personal.

  • Experience utilizing vendor equipment specifications and reading vendor manuals.

  • Have a working knowledge of the NEC Codes.

  • Experience in voltage drop calculations, wiring sizing and conduit fill calculations.

  • Experience in creating and modifying P&I diagrams, loop sheets, single lines, logics, and electrical schematics.

  • Experience in 480 volt power distribution systems, lighting, schematic wiring diagrams, cable / raceway sizing, lightning protection and grounding required

  • Experience in developing scopes of work, task analysis, material list and project schedules

Physical Requirements

  • Work is located at a chemical plant and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremes

  • Work will require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, and steel-toed boots

  • Must be able to complete necessary field work in process areas around the plant site ​
